Perform one of the most advanced vascular surgeries in the world in Babol

Dr. Tayebi said: Abdominal aortic aneurysm (dilation of the main abdominal artery) secondary to high blood pressure and weakened vascular wall in the elderly can lead to sudden rupture and death due to severe intra-abdominal bleeding.

He said: "In some cases, in addition to the aortic aneurysm, there is an aneurysm of the iliac arteries (simultaneous dilation of the pelvic artery), in which case the probability of rupture and bleeding due to these dilatations will be much higher due to the extent of vascular involvement." Open surgeries will be much more difficult with more severe complications and longer hospital stays.

The vascular surgeon of Babol University of Medical Sciences continued: Performing intravascular repair of these aneurysms without opening the abdominal wall is one of the most advanced vascular surgeries in the world, which can reduce the time of surgery to one third of the time of open surgery, reduce The patient's pain and disability after surgery and reducing the length of hospital stay from about one week to about three days.

Dr. Taybi acknowledged: "In our country, a few years ago, cases of such vascular operations have been performed in a limited number of equipped centers, and fortunately today, after several successful cases of endovascular repair of intra-abdominal aortic aneurysms in Ayatollah Rouhani Hospital in  the past, for the first time, the simultaneous repair of two separate abdominal and pelvic aneurysms by endovascular method has been successfully performed.

He added: In this 2-hour operation, members of the endovascular team of the vascular surgery department of Ayatollah Rouhani Hospital in Babol, in collaboration with Dr. Majid Moeini, a specialist in vascular surgery and a member of the faculty of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and Dr. Iraj Jafaripour, International Cardiology Fellowship, Babol University To perform this surgery in Mazandaran province and complete recovery of the patient.
